Sustainability at Oshen Swim

The safety and health of our seas are very essential to us because we are a swimwear company. At Oshen Swim, we use an environmentally friendly and sustainable approach to swimwear. We uphold our sustainable methods via our material and ethical practices.

FROM THE OCEAN

We take much pride in using fabric that made from gathered trash and abandoned fish nets from oceans and landfills.

REDUCED WASTE

To make the most of every square inch of our fabric, we plan how we cut the fabric to ensure no fabric is being wasted. Sometimes, patterns don't always line up perfectly with the amount of fabric we have. In this case, we turn the leftovers into hair scrunchies (who wouldn't want a scrunchie to match the colour and material of their swimsuit?!) and other accessories. We use recycled materials when shipping products to consumers as well!

ETHICAL PRACTICES

At Oshen Swim, sustainability carries into the transparency of our company and the ethical practices in which we participate in. All Oshen Swim products are handmade in our studio located in Ottawa, Ontario. Due to the nature of the studio being in a residential home, we have a limited capacity for customers to visit the studio. But don't worry! Our products are also sold at a boutique in the Rideau Centre called Zulu and Wolfe (you can find their contact information here: https://zuluandwolfe.com/). In the store you will find a sample rack, pre-made pieces, fitting rooms to give them a shot, and plenty of lovely young ladies to help you out n your purchase with Oshen Swim.

We are aware of the cheaper swimsuits out there, but what sets us apart from fast fashion is that we hide nothing. All work conditions are safe and follow employee labour laws (if you would like to come see for yourself, we would love to hear from you!). Every step of our process, whether it be planning, cutting, or sewing is done with care for our people and our environment.

We understand that sometimes waiting for custom made swimwear isn't possible. We do have some pre-made products available for sale and Zulu and Wolfe. However, sometimes certain styles or colours of fabric don't sell as well as others. Again, we hate the idea of wasting fabric. That's why if there are pieces that haven't sold from past seasons, we recycle the material and make cute and fashionable accessories.

We are constantly seeking methods to advance our sustainability goals and objectives. Above all, we take much pride is offering you with high-quality swimwear without further endangering our environment or the oceans!
